Business Continuity Software: LDRPS: Features

There are many new exciting features in LDRPS 10. Here are just a few of the major ones:

Build Countless Navigators/Interfaces
This is something that no other continuity software provider provides. If you’ve grown accustomed to using or have learned of the four Navigators that come with LDRPS 10, you already understand how easy, fast, and perhaps most of all, comprehensive they make planning – from start to finish. You’re now able to create your own direction in planning by designing an interface to guide both plan builders and administrators in performing such tasks as creating plans, defining security, building the plan structure, etc. Simply put, this option makes your planning possibilities endless.

Simple Security
When a new record is created, it’s automatically marked with a pre-defined value, therefore giving it a sort of identity that can be grouped with other like identities. For example, suppose you define a department (such as Marketing or Sales) on the Security User Details screen and then add a department field on the Employee screen to prefill from the Security User Details Department field. You can then define a Security role that grants users access to only employee records that belong to that department (in this case, Marketing or Sales). The benefit of this is substantial, considering how much time it would take to sift through records and manually assign each to a particular security class.

Team Assignments at Task Level
It’s no longer necessary to assign each subtask to a team position. You can make assignments at the task level or the subtask level depending on how you want to plan and how detailed you want to be.

Select All When Viewing Reports or Publishing
There are several ways you can do this:

  • Select all plans by highlighting them in the All Plans list (Shift + left mouse click) and clicking the New button;
  • Select all plans within a folder by double clicking on the folder name;
  • Right click on a folder to choose between all plans in the folder and all plans in the folder and all of its subfolders.

Cancel Publishing
All you need to do is select the publication, click the Delete button and you’re done.

Search on All Field Types
More powerful and comprehensive search efforts deliver the exact results you need to locate.

Documents and Reports Preview
Just by clicking on the name of a report or document in the Table of Contents, you’ll have a preview showing data for the current plan.

New Interface
The LDRPS master interface has been redesigned for greater usability giving you the most efficient user experience ever. This includes a new home page and main button bar that make any screen accessible at any time, making navigation between LDRPS functions easier than ever.

Enhanced Plan Structures
The Plan Structures screen enables you to define two plan hierarchies – Geographical and Organizational. This means that a plan can be stored at one or more levels in the Geography structure, one or more levels in the Organization structure, or one or more levels in each. Also, multiple plans can now be stored at the same structure level and folder.

New Dictionaries
The following dictionaries appear for the first time in LDRPS:
The Applications dictionary stores information about systems that are required to perform your most critical business functions.
The Hardware dictionary contains information about machinery or equipment that would require immediate attention during a disruption.
The Teams dictionary stores information about the groups needed to perform key steps when a plan is activated.
The Locations dictionary has been revised to allow you to identify the resources stored at or required by each location.
The Tasks dictionary now contains a grouping of related steps, called subtasks, that your teams will perform when a plan is activated, thus helping you organize your tasks more efficiently.

General or Core Component Recovery
In LDRPS 10, you can build general plans specifically geared toward the recovery/maintenance of your core components (processes, applications and hardware) that must be recovered in the event of a disruption.

Dependency Map
LDRPS 10 provides a graphical representation of the relationships between core components, enabling planners to easily identify dependencies within the plan scope.

Enhanced Call Lists
Call Lists are built through an easy-to-use, graphical drag and drop interface. Plus, records from any "people" category, namely Employees, Vendor Reps and Customer Reps, can now be included in them. Additionally, a person now can appear in multiple call lists within a plan and alternates can be assigned for each caller.

Document and Report Manager
Because documents, reports and tables of contents are related, the Document and Report Manager organizes them together in an easy-to-use, logical interface.

Enhanced Publishing
The publishing engine has been enhanced to provide more efficient plan publishing. When publishing multiple plans simultaneously, you can specify the print order.

Revised Security
Security is more powerful and flexible than ever in LDRPS 10. You can grant users LDRPS privileges via roles that define access to screens, features, plans, data, documents and reports. You can even set conditional plan and record access, meaning your users will automatically only see the information that is pertinent to their plan building, such as all plans and employees associated with a specific department. Password length requirements are 8 characters, reinforcing program security.

Navigator Interface
In LDRPS 10, Administrators determine whether a user will see the master interface or the LDRPS Navigator interface when logging in. The Navigator interface provides clear, easy-to-follow step by step directions for plan building and other LDRPS tasks – perfect for those still getting acquainted with the product.
